Chuck began performing and recording internationally when he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio in 1980 at the age of 21. To his credit are thirteen extensive European tours and five tours of Japan, with the Barney Kessel Trio, Ken Peplowski, Terry Gibbs and Conte Candoli. He served as Artist-In-Residence at The Smithsonian Jazz Café in Washington, DC from 2004-2008. Chuck was featured vibraphonist with the Mel Torme All-Star Jazz Quintet from 1991 until 1996. In 1940, one year after the St. Louis and its Voyage of the Damned,” a Portuguese steamer brought fewer than 100 refugees from Europe to Norfolk, Virginia. Most of the passengers were Jews, and all had been denied entry into Mexico. But this time, through the concert efforts of members of the local and national Jewish community – as well as a few well-placed friends in the national capital – all of those on board were granted permission to land. Thu, Mar 17 - Third Thursday, Chrysler Museum of Art, 5 - 10:00 pm, One Memorial Place, Norfolk. At the Museum starting at 5 pm, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a special Chrysler Collection tour, Bottoms Up: Drinking Through the Ages. The local band Leigheas enlivens our shamrock celebration with Irish jigs and reels and traditional Celtic favorites. At the Perry Glass Studio starting at 8 pm, we’re going Cajun as guest artist Jimmy Vella of N’awlins whips up some hot-glass Jambalaya to the Big Easy sounds of the Hot Gumbo Brass Band. Due to standing-room-only Third Thursday crowds, admission tickets are now required for entrance to the Studio. Pick up yours at the Studio doors beginning at 6 pm on the night of the event, and be advised tickets tend to go fast. Third Thursday is free for Museum Members and students with current ID, $5 for all others. There’s a cash bar at both locations.

The Five Points Community Farm Market is a project of the Five Points Partnership, a 501-c-3 non-profit formed in 2001.
