Now to June 24 - Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival, 310 Edwin Dr., Virginia Beach. Hours of operation are 6 pm - 11 pm during the week, and 2 pm - 11 pm on the weekends. Rides, games and traditional state fair foods re all available at the Summer Carnival at Mount Trashmore Park. Located in the parking lot off Edwin Drive, the carnival is great for all ages and offers free admission and free parking. Ride prices - Single Tickets: $1 each (each ride takes 2-6 tickets); Monday, Wednesday & Friday: $18 wristband (unlimited rides); Twelve Buck Tuesday: $12 wristband; Dollar Day Thursday: All rides $1 each; Saturday & Sunday: $20 wristband. Wed, June 18 - Front Porch Music Series with ‘Danny Fitzgerald and the Usual Suspects’, Hampton History Museum, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This eclectic home grown-band is hard to pin down into one genre, Danny Fitzgerald and The Usual Suspects play everything from jump-swing to blues to rockabilly with some island sounds and several originals thrown in. The band is a Hampton institution, having played such venues such as downtown Hampton’s Marker 20. The Hampton History Museum event promised to be an evening rich in musical diversity and surprises with performers on bass, vocals, keyboards, guitar, drums, sax, flute, harmonica and maybe even a little clarinet.

Thu, June 19 - Third Thursday at the Chrysler, Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, 5:00 - 10:00 pm. The Chrysler presents its first campus-wide Third Thursday event from 5-10 p.m. Admission is free to Museum Members and $5 for all others (kids are free). While we were closed for renovations, Third Thursday was a showcase for glass art as performance art at the Glass Studio. These evenings of live music, live Studio audience and a cash bar will continue unchanged. As we expand Third Thursday to include the Museum, forget our past Warm It concerts or Art of Jazz nights. Think of Third Thursday as a fresh chance to get together with family or friends. Starting at 5 p.m., you’ll be able to get a glass of wine or beer at our cash bar, or enjoy a meal at our new cafe that features al fresco dining. This month, instead of a band in Huber Court, we’ll have a strolling musician in the galleries (and this month it’s Skye Zentz on ukulele). The Glass Studio’s performance still will start at 7 p.m. and the lead glass artist will be Sam Geer. The musical guest will be Sharkophagus, and you can read an interview with the band, and hear some songs, at AltDaily.com. We’ll have flashlight tours for the kids and a drinking-themed scavenger hunt for the adults. But what we’ll be offering most of all is a chance to enjoy our newly refurbished Museum in an after-work setting.

This is the first time in the STIHLR TIMBERSPORTSR Series history that the U.S. Pro and Collegiate athletes will fight for top honors at the Norfolk Scope Arena. The facility is one of the premier venues on the East Coast and is perfect for showcasing one of the most exciting sporting events in the country. Athletes compete in six professional lumberjack disciplines; the hot saw, single buck, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw and underhand chop. This season features notable returning lumberjacks and fan favorites, including the renowned lumberjack Cogar family. STIHLR TIMBERSPORTSR Series Pro Champion Matthew Cogar will defend his title, and will have to face his cousins Arden and Scooter, Jr., as well as his father Paul. Fri-Sun, June 20-22 - The 25th Annual AT&T Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival delivers the heart and soul of Louisiana to visitors of Town Point Park in true Cajun style. From New Orleans to Norfolk, two stages featuring national recording artists provide musical entertainment for the weekend. Also on hand will be many local New Orleans musicians and artists who are sure to get your hands clapping, feet two-steppin’ and heart pumping throughout the weekend.

Fri-Sun, June 20-22 - Sandstock - A Tribute to Rock & Roll. 24th Street Park at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This is a beach-inspired variation on “Woodstock.” National and regional tribute artists who cover performers from Elton John to the Allman Brothers to the Grateful Dead will crank out hit after hit on two beach stages at the Virginia Beach oceanfront! All performances, which are free to the public, will be held on “dueling” stages on the beach at 24th Street, adjacent to the 24th Street Park. Merchandise vendors will be featured in the park itself.
