Named one of the "101 Best Farmers Markets in America" by the DailyMeal.com, Smithfield's Farmers Market is held every Saturday morning from April 5 through October 25. Thu, Sep 11 - Wild Wing Fling, Bayside Harley-Davidson, 4 - 7:00 pm. 2211 Frederick Blvd, Portsmouth. The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce's Wild Wing Fling is back, and this year, will remember and honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. Firefighters who responded to the September 11 attacks in New York will be on hand representing the Rescue Remembrance Project. Help support the cause and bring a donation. This outdoor event will include samplings of the best wings from area restaurants and other delectable morsels, adult beverages, business exhibits, and music by More Cowbell. Cast your vote for the People's Choice Award. Local celebrity judges will crown a Wing King (or Queen).

Thu, Sep 11 - Operation Homefront Freedom Walk, Peninsula Town Center, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, PTC Town Square, Hampton. In honor of remembrance of 9/11, Operation Homefront of the Virginias hosts a Freedom Walk each year on the anniversary. The event features a walk, moment of silence, wreath laying ceremony and fellowship with military vendors and resources. The World Paddle Association presents a day of events including three paddle races; stand up paddleboarding, kayak, and canoe. Sat, Sep 13 - Hampton Roads Sustainable Living Expo, Kellam High School - LEED Gold (projected), 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, 2665 West Neck Road, Virginia Beach. The Expo is a family-friendly, regional event designed to engage the greater Hampton Roads community in exploring the balance between social, economic, and environmental responsibility. Sat, Sep 13 - Embrace The Culture (ETC): Norfolk's Indie Music & Arts Festival, Town Point Park, Noon - 10:00 pm, Downtown Norfolk. Embrace The Culture (ETC) is the celebration of the vast talent and dedication that fuels the independent music scene. Town Point Park transforms into an organic platform for independent artists and musicians. Free & Everyone is Welcome. ETC is comprised of local, regional and national artists on multiple stages. ETC offers local culinary, visual and salvage artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their own talents. Fri, Sep 12 - Rhythms on the Riverwalk Concert Series, w/ the Super Jazz Band featuring Conni Mann, Riverwalk Landing, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. We've stepped things up a bit, literally! This year's concert series features three Fridays of toe tappin' Jazz and Big Band followed by two Fridays of knee slappin' Country. Get your toes tappin' to fantastic sounds during this five-week concert series. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to "those good and crazy people," his married friends, as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life. In the end, he realizes being alone is "alone, not alive." An honest, witty, sophisticated look at relationships, Company is as contemporary and relevant as ever. It features a brilliant energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim's best-known songs (including "Another Hundred People," "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "Being Alive"). Company Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Part folk opera, part multi-media lecture, this cycle of original songs follows the trials, hopes, fears and sacrifices of Civil War soldiers as they struggle through the Union conquest of Port Royal, the fires in The Wilderness, the killing fields of Cold Harbor, and the long siege of Petersburg.
