The Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch is back for another year with the new haunted trail - Terror Woods. This trail aims to have the coolest Halloween props for haunted trails. Now thru Oct 31 - A Haunting at Greenbrier Farms, Thu-Sun starting at 6:00 pm, 225 Sign Pine Road, Chesapeake. This years guided walking tour at Historic Greenbrier Farms starts around the 100 year old farm house and ends about 20 minutes later on the south side of the property navigating a dark cornfield. The attraction is designed by Mark Brownell, a long time Hampton Roads resident and prior owner of the Haunted House at the Oceanfront. The NEON Festival is a celebration of energy and light in the NEON, Norfolk’s Arts District. Local and national artists, performers and musicians will showcase their talents at pop-up venues, the Plot and the cultural anchors of the NEON District. Wander through neighborhood streets during the festival to discover tiny art happenings, large gateway murals and pops of neon color and light. The festival starts with Third Thursday at the Chrysler Museum & Glass Studio and continues Friday evening with the opening night show at Work | Release. The Ghost Train is a half-hour ride through the haunted woods of Northwest River Park. Thu-Sun, Oct 15-18 - Glass Studio Visiting Artist: Tom Moore, Chrysler Museum of Art, One Memorial Place, Norfolk. Tom Moore is an Australian glass artist who likes to combine natural and industrial elements and place them into dreamlike landscapes. His creations, including Plantbird, Torpedoshark, and Potatofishcar blur the line between plants, animals and machines. He says he is inspired by sites such as old wrecked cars that have been overgrown by plants, what he calls “the triumph of nature over industry.” The graduate of the Canberra School of Art is currently working on his Ph.D. He’s spent the last dozen years at Jam Factory in Adelaide, a combination studio/gallery art space.

The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race (GCBSR) was founded to promote public awareness of the Chesapeake Bay’s maritime heritage and to encourage the preservation and improvement of the Chesapeake’s natural resources. We accomplish this goal in part by donating the proceeds of the race to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to support their children’s education programs. Pre-race activities and events take place in Baltimore, Maryland. Kevin Burke was born in 1950 in London, England to parents from County Sligo in Ireland. Inheriting a love of Irish music from his parents, he took up the fiddle at the age of eight.  In 2007, Burke started an independent record company, Loftus Music, in order to release his own recordings. Burke continues to tour throughout the world. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and two children.

The Five Points Community Farm Market is a project of the Five Points Partnership, a 501-c-3 non-profit formed in 2001. The Partnership is a grass-roots community organization based in the Norview section of Norfolk. The Farm Market began as a community project in 2002 in a vacant lot across from Norview Middle School, with volunteers selling Rodman’s peanuts and 3 small growers offering produce. We have been located on Church Street since May 3, 2008, and we continue to work to bring the city of Norfolk and surrounding cities fresh produce grown by local small farms, and we are always growing.
