Bring your bikes, helmets and family or friends out to Norfolk Botanical Garden and pedal through the petals. Norfolk Botanical Garden is home to 12 miles of pedestrian pathways. The Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch is back for another year with the new haunted trail - Terror Woods. This trail aims to have the coolest Halloween props for haunted trails. This years guided walking tour at Historic Greenbrier Farms starts around the 100 year old farm house and ends about 20 minutes later on the south side of the property navigating a dark cornfield. Tom Moore is an Australian glass artist who likes to combine natural and industrial elements and place them into dreamlike landscapes. His creations, including Plantbird, Torpedoshark, and Potatofishcar blur the line between plants, animals and machines. He says he is inspired by sites such as old wrecked cars that have been overgrown by plants, what he calls "the triumph of nature over industry." The graduate of the Canberra School of Art is currently working on his Ph.D. He's spent the last dozen years at Jam Factory in Adelaide, a combination studio/gallery art space.

Wed, Oct 14 - The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus, Ferguson Center for the Arts, 7:30 pm, 1 University Pl., Newport News. The Concert Band & Soldiers’ Chorus are the oldest and largest of The U.S. Army Field Band’s performing components. Founded in 1946 and 1957 respectively, these two ensembles combine to present joint concerts on their national tours.
